Kim Welsh PhotographerKim Welsh is a psychologist and a
photographer with a passion for documenting
musicians and cultural celebrations including
festivals, second lines, Mardi Gras Indians,
masqueraders, and jazz funerals. From
the “juke joints” of the Delta to the backstreets
of New Orleans, she enjoys people watching,
all genres of music, ethnic cuisine, world
travel, wildlife ,and children of all ages. An
advocate for cultural preservation through
respectful documentation, she uses visual
imagery to encourage an understanding of unique worldviews and to
remind people of how diverse performance traditions enrich our lives.
Kim is a photographer for the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival
and the Arkansas Blues and Heritage “King Biscuit” Festival, among
many others. She serves as event photographer for The French Market
Corporation and Young Leadership Council, and her images regularly
appear in Offbeat magazine. A blues music aficionado and self-
proclaimed "fest junkie," she also writes festival reviews for STLBlues.net
and JamBandsOnline.com. She enjoys vending her images at festivals in
New Orleans and in the Mississippi Delta.
